Give students 15 minutes to complete a diagnostic “True or False” and multiple-choice questionnaire about mental health and illness. Be sure to inform students that the results of this questionnaire will not contribute towards a formal grade of any kind. This questionnaire is an independent activity that will help each student develop an understanding of their knowledge and attitudes about mental health and illness. For this activity to be helpful, student’s responses need to represent their true opinions, rather than what they think they should be answering: Ask students to answer each question honestly.
Let students know that, once everyone has completed the questionnaire, you will spend the rest of the class discussing the correct answers, building their awareness, and debunking myths.
