Health and Physical Education
A1.3. Social-Emotional Learning Skills, Positive Motivation and Perseverance: Apply skills that help them develop habits of mind that support positive motivation and perseverance as they participate in learning experiences in health and physical education, in order to promote a sense of optimism and hope.
Creating their own permission slips helps students discover new ways of approaching situations that set them up for success and help them be the person they want to be. By setting clear intentions, students enhance their ability to persevere through challenges and take actions that align with their values and goals.  (Achieved in GO activity)
Health and Physical Education
D2.6. Healthy Living, Human Development and Sexual Health: Make informed decisions that demonstrate respect for themselves and others and an understanding of the concept of consent to help build healthier relationships, using a variety of social-emotional learning skills.
Using permission slips helps students understand the concept of consent and their ability to decide how to participate in an activity. Writing permission slips increases students’ ability to set boundaries for themselves and others, thereby building trust and developing healthier relationships. This activity also helps students think about how their present actions affect long-term goals. (Achieved in GO activity)
Character Development
Not applicable.
Permission slips encourage students to actively engage with the people around them and environments they are in. They can be used as a tool to inspire positive action and initiate behaviour change. Because permission slips inherently meant to drive students towards connection, this activity can also be an important facilitator of social relationships, empathy, and openness, which are critical for creating strong communities.
